Overview of Black Aswan Granite

Black Aswan Granite is a premium black Egyptian granite quarried in Aswan, Upper Egypt. A dense, fine-grained jet-black granite with a uniform crystalline matrix and subtle silver micro-flecks that come alive under polish. Black Aswan has been quarried in southern Egypt since pharaonic times and remains one of the most internationally specified black granites on the global market. Exceptional polish reflectivity and a tight, consistent grain structure that holds detail in lettering and carving.

Architects and contractors specify Black Aswan Granite for monuments and memorials, kitchen countertops, dark feature flooring, high-end façade cladding, and elevator lobbies. The stone performs reliably in both indoor and outdoor environments thanks to granite's natural hardness, very low water absorption, and proven resistance to abrasion, UV exposure, and freeze–thaw cycles — making it equally suited to high-traffic commercial floors and weather-exposed façades. Egyptian Granite by EG can supply Black Aswan Granite with the surface finish best matched to your application: polished for reflective interior surfaces, honed or leathered for a softer matte feel, and flamed, bush-hammered, or sandblasted for slip-resistant exterior use.

For international projects, Black Aswan Granite is exported in every standard form: raw quarry blocks for stone fabricators, gangsaw and cutter slabs for slab yards, calibrated tiles for flooring and cladding contracts, and full cut-to-size production — stairs, treads, risers, countertops, vanities, monuments, copings, and façade panels — manufactured to your project drawings in our Egyptian factory.

Where is Black Aswan Granite quarried?+

Black Aswan Granite is quarried in Aswan, Upper Egypt and processed in our Egyptian factory before being packed for international export.

Is Black Aswan Granite suitable for outdoor flooring and façades?+

Yes. Like other Egyptian granites, Black Aswan Granite has very low water absorption and high resistance to weathering, UV, and freeze–thaw. For exterior flooring we recommend a flamed, bush-hammered, or sandblasted finish to provide slip resistance, while façades are typically supplied polished or honed.

What finishes are available for Black Aswan Granite?+

All standard granite finishes: polished, honed, flamed, brushed, sandblasted, bush-hammered, tumbled, split-face, leathered, and acid-washed. Specify the finish alongside size and thickness when requesting a quote.

What thicknesses and sizes are available?+

Slabs are produced in 2 cm and 3 cm as standard, with 4 cm and 5 cm available on request. Tiles ship in 1, 1.5, and 2 cm thickness in standard sizes from 30×30 cm up to 80×80 cm. Cut-to-size pieces — countertops, stairs, façade panels — are produced to your project drawings.

What is the minimum order, and can I mix a container?+

Mixed containers are welcome: you can combine Black Aswan Granite with other Egyptian granites, finishes, or forms inside a single 20-ft or 40-ft container to optimise shipping. Minimum order is generally one full container; smaller LCL shipments can be arranged on request.
